Hello I am Karina,

Welcome to Carlo&Cub!

I am the owner and creator of Carlo&Cub sensory kits. I am a mother of two beautiful children Carlo and Celine, wife to my hubby Vince and a dedicated primary school educator. I am currently on maternity leave, which has been a god-sent, as my idea of this business came into fruition. I have a strong passion working with children, more specifically creating fun and engaging experiences that they will take with them throughout their lives.

When my son turned 2 during the inevitable lockdown, I made a sensory kit and was in awe of just how much he was engaged. The authentic language he developed and strong communication skills shone so brightly. He had asked me so many questions and was able to explore for a sustainable amount of time.

You might be thinking... Why sensory play? Why develop sensory kits? Sensory play is simply using ‘play’ to stimulate our five senses of touch, smell, taste, sight and hear. Every second of the day, a child will use their senses to explore and learn new things.

Sensory play has an absolutely wide range of positive benefits for children. As children grow, it is essential to provide them with endless opportunities to explore and play using their senses, this has such a positive impact on their cognitive, physical and social development. Not only is it fun, it helps with achieving their learning tasks but supports cognitive growth, language development, gross motor skills, social interaction and problem solving skills.

Sensory play helps build nerve connections in their brain assisting with more complex tasks. Sensory Play is crucial to brain development . Every child is different and will respond to sensory play differently.

In February I will be launching a range of sensory kits. I am beyond excited and can't wait to see the joy these kits will bring out in children! Sensory play opens endless possibilities.
